New to London: markets and parks

New to London. I’m not the first and I won’t be the last.

With probably the best public transport in the world, your initial impression is that life will be easy and kind! Luring you in with its simplicity.

Lucky we have friends to stay with because dealing with a real estate agent and a recruiter at the same time could make me implode! Bank accounts too – no easy task.

But markets- my god Londoners love a good market. And so do I. Not only will you find a local one every Saturday morning with fresh veggies and multicultural food treats but there is a huge variety. Borough markets remaining my favourite if not purely for their raclette (french for cheese orgasm) in which they decadently scrape from to make the meltiest, most mouth watering  cheese topping (on potatoes of all things – with pickles!) my arteries were told to pipe down as my stomach nearly jumped out of my mouth to take down the whole shebang.

But yes… Where was I, markets. Portobello also nice but not on a Saturday way too hectic; Broadway market for some cafe culture and did I mention London’s parks are the best option for free fun in summer and spring?! So far London fields has been hands down the prettiest park I’ve been to yet with all of its wildflowers blooming in summer. Special mention also to Kensington Park (with gardens to make you shrivel at the fact that you can’t keep your cactus alive for more than two weeks).

Further market and park exploring yet to be done. Will report back soon.
