Novel Designs: the Hive

So Kew Gardens have been on the radar for a little while… When we finally made it, we saw what all the buzz was about (puns will not be excused).
Not only is Kew a fabulous manicured garden (it is not a park to get pissed and pack a picnic and some partay balloons if you get my drift), it has a strapping interactive sculpture – the Hive.

The Hive made my £15 entry fee seem almost worth it.

It is a phenomenal metallic structure fashioned of metallic rods bolted together that combined give the impression of a flurry of bees. Whilst it is meant to look like a hive my interpretation is that of a billion crazed bees who post prod are intent on getting the bastard responsible.

I love the fact that the LED lights inside the structure mimic the real live bees that the installation is somehow (don’t ask me how) linked up to.

This blows my mind to think of the activity inside the Hive. The installation even gives off noises from the real hive to make you feel part of the activity.

Blows my mind.

With appreciation for nature restored and the natural architecture that the bees give us I proceed to have a dashing insta photo taken outside of the conservatory – which in itself is as sweet as honey to my lens, not to mention the delicious welded cast iron staircase inside.

Get to Kew, get stung by the entry fee. You wont even regret it!
