It took 3 months of being sardined in the tube, walked in to on the street, rude shop assistants but I finally did it… I got to breaking point in London! From this point I could no longer bear the sight of any form of public transport or human being and needed to escape big city life.

Cue the Seven Sisters. Giant chalk white cliffs that flank the coastal stretch between Seaford and Eastbourne.
To be honest I had lowish expectations despite numerous sites touting it as the best walk closest to London (che?)… Is that like saying the most beautiful girl in the whole wide room?
Two hours out of London and needless to say this walk exceeded expectations. The sun was shining, the cliffs themselves were surreal and staggeringly bold in their appearance. The contrast between their glistening white chalky texture, the cobalt ocean and the lush grass was almost too picturesque.
Despite being tragically under dressed (one Aussie and one Kiwi) and being concerned that the unrelenting English Channel wind would significantly disfigure our faces – we survived the 4-5 hour trek and loved it!

Seaford itself is charming and despite struggling to orient ourselves to the beginning of the walk (just walk to the ocean obvs!) we made it over one rolling lush hill at a time, teetering dangerously close to staring that little bit too hard over the edge!

Views were stunning and the salt air and greenery does a weary Londoner a world of benefit. With lunch at The Cuckmere (Sunday Roast Turkey – delicious) we had no excuse not to make it to the end of the walk after consuming such copious amounts of meat and gravy.
Highly recommend this walk to anyone in desperate need of a scenery change and to feel less like a cog in the London machine. That icy wind and sea view could revitalise even the most rusty of cogs.
